Description

A game-ready asset based on an existing product, comprised of 9 396 tris. I was a little too conservative with the low-poly geometry at places compared to the high-poly one, but overall I am pretty happy with the end result.

A nice challenge with this project was how to handle the backrest in UE5, since it was (1) partially transparent, and (2) comprised of single faces, so I had to learn how to counter backface culling in the engine, but only for that section of the model. In the end, with this asset I opted for duplicated faces with inverted normals, as their impact on total geometry count was small, and used a masked blend mode with an opacity mask in the material setup for the transparency effect.
